About Me

I’m a SAHM (Stay-At-Home-Mom) with 4 kids.  I used to be a national golfer but gave up the jet-setting life of a golfer when I became pregnant with my first child. All you mothers know how the world changes when we have kids. My journey in motherhood has been one of constant learning.

HOW VALUEBOOKSHOP STARTED

When I started valuebookshop, it was to sell 2nd hand children and parenting books. I wanted to fill my house with books for my children to read but didn’t want to spend a bomb on it. I discovered I could get overstock books that were cheap and good. Plus, if I bought in bulk, it would be even more worth it. I figured I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone:

  1. Buy books for myself
  2. Buy books for other parents

I ran my used bookshop for a few years. I had fun shopping for children books. However, it was a lot of work putting them online. As a mother of young children, I just couldn’t put 100% into that business. Buying, doing inventory, writing reviews, snapping and cropping photos, marketing, packaging and posting customers’ orders got a bit overwhelming.

VALUEBOOKSHOP GOES THROUGH A TRANSFORMATION

Then the economy took a downturn and buying children books was not what people considered essential. There were more important matters to think about. So obviously my sales too a big dive. That’s when I realized I could do a lot more good than selling children books. Selling children books alone wasn’t going to help a mother cope with daily challenges.

GIVING WHAT MOTHERS NEED

Many people think SAHM have the luxury of shaking legs at home. NO THEY DON’T! Take my day for instance. I have to see to the laundry, the meals and the children’s education and welfare. I also have to deal with the children’s whining, fighting and calls for attention. I do what I can to make the home a heaven on earth. In the meantime, I also want to pursue my own interests and hobbies such as digital scrapbooking. And although I have my husband to provide for me, I still like the idea of earning some money of my own. I’m grateful for the internet because it provides many mothers like me the option to work from home.

Although we are all different, we mothers do share many things in common too. We wear many of the same hats. I’m sure I’m right to say we all desire to SAVE TIME, SAVE EFFORT, SAVE MONEY AND STAY SANE.
